She was senior class president, homecoming queen, and led a reasonably lavish life in Nashville, Tennessee, complete with a convertible, designer items, and a boyfriend.
But she felt it was to serve another purpose and to change the lives of others.
“I left my life…I left college; I left my nice designer clothes and my little yellow convertible; I left my boyfriend. I don’t have all the things anymore. that the world says are important,” she told Today’s Christian Woman.
So, although Sarah originally planned her adventure as a year-long mission trip, she ended up founding a wonderful ministry called Amazima in 2008.
Amazema describes her mission on Facebook as living “the love of Jesus by educating and empowering the people of Uganda and the communities we serve.” What a wonderful thing to do!
She even became a mother of 13 children after she started teaching in an orphanage.
When she was only 23, she decided to raise 13 Oganadan girls as her daughters, saying it was a God-inspired feeling to do so.
“God made it clear to me that we were going to be a family,” Katie said.
She said caring for them isn’t always easy, loving kids lets her feel that she really loves another person.
The inspirational woman quickly found the love of her life and soon had a child of her own!
Katie met fellow missionary Benji Majors who grew up in the same town as hers in Tennessee. What a coincidence! She believes fate brought them together.
The cute couple got married in 2015, in the presence of 13 beautiful girls.
This inspiring story should remind us all to always keep in mind how we can help and care for those in need!
