There are many things we take for granted such as food, water or even a roof over our heads or a bed. At around 2:30 a.m., a police officer came upon what appeared to be an abandoned car. As he got closer, he saw that two adults were sleeping in the front seats of the car, but after looking closely, he also noticed that two small children were sleeping in the back seat.

The parents told police they had no home and lived in the car because they had nowhere else to go.

Lieutenant Roderick said police were simply moved by the case: “Our new colleague who found them took it upon themselves to arrange them because they had no place to stay and it was cold outside at night.”

This officer was Leonardo Almeida, he had recently graduated from the police academy and after seeing these poor people he knew he had to do something to help them so he ended up calling a local hotel to ask about rooms be free.

That evening, without a second thought, I paid Almeida $290 with love and kindness. So much respect for this cop, not many in his place would do the same!
