While the men do the hard work involved in constructing the building, the women prepare a party that will be a celebration once the work is done. The barn moving scene is less common, but that’s what happened recently at the Hochstetler farm.
The barn didn’t need to go very far – only about 150 feet – but it was still a huge undertaking for a group of people who didn’t believe in using modern farming equipment. Mr. Hochstetler appears to be a very friendly man as over 200 mates showed up in their cars to help him get his barn to the required location.
With so many people on deck, the job only took a few minutes and the hangar arrived at its new location in perfect condition. Definitely a reason to rejoice!
If you’ve never seen an animated hand barn before, it’s a good idea to watch the video of this event for a few minutes. While it’s certainly unheard of to move a barn in this way, it’s rare that such a large group of people can come together to do the job.
