Upon arriving in the alley, Lang spotted a frantic woman signaling for his attention, as reported by CBS 2 Chicago. He recounted the moment, saying, “I looked out the window and saw this woman in a state of distress, waving her arms urgently.” She directed him to the dresser drawers, and one of them held a truly precious discovery.
Inside the drawer, Lang found a newborn baby, swathed in blankets, and a rosary left alongside. He admitted, “We don’t know who placed the baby there, but the sight of that baby moving and crying put my mind at ease. It was almost surreal.”
CBS 2 Chicago disclosed that the infant appeared to be only a few days old and still had its umbilical cord attached. Lang, a father of two, felt an immediate connection to the child and shared, “When the ambulance arrived, I carried him in, and I didn’t want to let him go. He opened his eyes, glanced around the ambulance, offered a faint smile, and held onto our fingers. Those big brown eyes, they’ll forever stay with me. Holding that little one, wrapped securely in my arms, it felt strangely familiar.”
