Born on September 17, 1915, in Vale, South Dakota, Helen was the inaugural daughter among her siblings, a total of 10. Following the celebration of her twins’ 80th birthday, Helen passed away on December 16, 2019.
Helen’s life, rich with experiences, was documented in an obituary by Central Maine. The publication affectionately described her as a beloved matriarch who “nurtured over 80 direct descendants, each carrying her enduring legacy of grace, piety, and generosity.”
The obituary highlighted Helen’s resilience through significant historical events, from the Great Depression to multiple wartime periods. It noted her family’s contributions to national causes as a Gold Star family. The narrative then delved into her personal life, recounting her love story with Charles Mosher. After meeting him, Helen moved from her family home in Windsor to their first residence in Benton Station, where they raised a family before settling in their final home overlooking China Lake.
In this lakeside residence, they spent their later years surrounded by their extensive family. Summers were marked by small cottages on Pine Point on China Lake, hosting regular family gatherings, and the joyful presence of multiplying grandchildren. Apart from the twins, Helen had an eldest son, Richard, all of whom outlived her. They fondly remembered her emphasis on education, family history, and the joys of summers on China Lake, including shared moments like Red Sox games on the radio, the fragrance of pine needles, and her humming melodies resonating in the background.
As the twins reflect on their special 80th birthday celebration, they cherish the enduring memories of their remarkable mother
