The safety recording of Albert Rocco’s rescue was a hit, seen by millions on YouTube. In an interview, Albert told WPTV reporters about the moment he realized his son was drowning.

He said, “The second you see him, you get Superman’s power and you just have to go after him. Whatever you have to do.”

Asked about his remarkable leap over the fence, Albert added that he never thought of using the gate during the crash, saying his target was his son and nothing would stop him from saving him.

Albert admitted that not closing the door was a big mistake, and he also warned other parents to make sure they take all the necessary safety measures to protect their children. “Have these precautions in place, make sure you use them correctly,” he said.

Surprisingly, the American Academy of Pediatrics says drowning is the leading cause of death for children between the ages of one and four, killing nearly a thousand children in 2017.
