Despite the option to work beyond retirement age, witnessing elderly individuals labor when they should be enjoying their later years is undeniably disheartening. This sentiment resonated with Devan Bonagura, a Walmart employee working for a third-party phone sales company, when he encountered an elderly woman named Nola in a breakroom. Moved by the sight of her, he shared a video of Nola on TikTok.

In the video, Nola sat on a chair, gazing at the floor, and Bonagura captioned it with, “Life shouldn’t b this hard.” Expressing his sympathy, he wrote in the caption, “I feel bad.”

The TikTok video quickly gained traction, amassing 28 million views. Recognizing the potential to make a difference in Nola’s life, Bonagura decided to launch a GoFundMe campaign with the goal of helping Nola retire.

To his astonishment, the campaign raised $100,000 in less than 24 hours.

In a subsequent video, Bonagura is seen conversing with Nola’s daughter over the phone. She agrees to his proposal to meet with Nola and personally hand her the funds, seizing the opportunity to make a positive impact on her life.
