While catching a baseball isn’t uncommon, what truly amazed the crowd was the father’s ability to do so while also holding his beverage in his other hand.
Commentators cleverly remarked, “A beverage, a baby, and a baseball.”
In an interview with NBC Los Angeles, Steve Pettit, a Glendale Fire Department Engineer, explained the incredible moment. The ball soared from the bat of St. Louis Cardinals’ Tommy Edman, landing in the second deck of Dodgers Stadium, directly into Pettit’s hand.
“It felt like slow motion, the ball just came right to my hand,” he recounted.
His wife, Misty, captured the exhilarating moment on camera, as the crowd erupted with excitement.
The remarkable catch was shared on the Dodgers’ Official Twitter account with the caption: “This dad caught a foul ball while holding his baby and a drink.” A subsequent photo showed Pettit holding the baseball in one hand, his drink in the other, with his daughter strapped to his chest.
“Dad power,” the caption read.
The video quickly went viral, garnering over a million views on Twitter. Comments flooded in, praising Pettit’s extraordinary reflexes.
“This is the epitome of fatherhood and baseball. Triple BBB – Baby, Beer, Baseball,” one user tweeted.
“This guy is becoming an internet sensation/legend. I’ve seen this video countless times since it happened! Love it!” another commented
