Figure skating is not only one of the most beautiful sports in the world but it’s also one of the toughest. To be able to pull off complicated moves: spinning, jumping, rolling in the air and landing on icy stage, you need months if not years of hard work and persistent practice. The competition is hard and Olympic medalists need to be creative with their choreography to grab audience and jury’s admiration and make it to highest rank.
Evgeni Plushenko, a Russian figure skater came up with an effective way to get attention. His “off the beaten path” performance took everyone by surprise. Despite this performance was done 17 years ago, most figure skating fans will never forget the first time they saw it.
Plushenko is a very talented figure skater, with two gold and two silver medals, he proved to be a talented gut with incredible skills on the ice.
In this performance, Plushenko chose Tom Jones’ “Sex Bomb” as the background song, This song seemed to be risky but was a perfect choice, since all the women in the audience couldn’t help but stand up and cheer. Then the crowd really went wild after the Russian guy took off his red jacket and revealed the tight gold vest he was wearing underneath.
But this is not the end of his wild moves, people couldn’t take their eyes off his giant biceps. Now take a closer look at them and you’ll find out why his fans are laughing about.
It turns out, Plushenko’s huge biceps were brought from the local costume store. The figure skater kept showing his “muscles” like Arnold Schwarzenegger, the crowd roared with laughter!
In addition to his smart funny routine, Plushenko didn’t forget that this is all about figure skating, so he went on to twirl and jump in perfectly! If you’re watching this for the first time, it certainly won’t be the last.
Plushenko showed that he is one of the few figure skaters who can engage with music. He’s such an amazing entertainer! If we’re lucky, he’ll come out of retirement and treat all of us to another one of his world famous stand-up comedy figure skating routines.
