Animal control workers in Ross Township, Pennsylvania, recently found a sight unlike any they’ve seen before. When they approached the house and smelled the stink of ammonia as they got out of the car, they knew their work was cut short for them.
There were also officers from a group called Animal Friends at the scene who arrived after several groups of neighbors constantly complained about the extremely appalling conditions in the house. Ultimately, Animal Friends officers had removed more than 100 dogs from the ammonia-ridden home by the end of the day, CBS reports.
As the dog removal process progressed, Ross Township Police Detective Brian Kohlep shared with CBS that ammonia levels in the house were so ridiculously high that it wasn’t safe for him. Having humans in the house, leave all those dogs alone.
His officers had to use independent air tanks and special breathing systems so that they could enter the house and breathe safely. They had to roll the tanks behind them while they worked to rescue the dogs.
Damian Miller lives next door to a terrible ammonia house. He called and talked about the smell of ammonia which was so strong that he couldn’t even use the pool in his backyard. Animal friends told him he might stop calling. “We’ll look into it,” all town officials told Mr. Miller.
For all animal lovers, don’t worry! All puppies are rescued by Animal Friends and after careful examination and treatment, they will all be offered for adoption. The owner will face charges of animal cruelty.
