At the MetLife Stadium in August 2022, during a stop on her Chromatica Ball tour, Lady Gaga openly displayed her emotional side. Acknowledging the massive crowd, she remarked on it being “the biggest audience that has ever come to just see me.” Amidst the thunderous reception of her popular hits and energetic dance anthems, the audience was also moved by the poignant and heartfelt moments of the night.

One such moment occurred when Lady Gaga took a pause to share heartfelt words about her close friend, Tony Bennett. Recalling their connection as former neighbors in New York, she reflected on Bennett’s influence on her life, emphasizing the lesson he consistently imparted: “always go straight ahead.”

Acknowledging the changes in their circumstances, Lady Gaga expressed gratitude for Tony’s wife, Susan, who remains a constant presence in his life. Despite Bennett’s absence at the concert, Lady Gaga envisioned their connection, breaking into a rendition of “Always Remember Us This Way” from her 2018 film “A Star is Born,” accompanied by her own piano performance.

Concluding the song, Lady Gaga urged the audience to show kindness to those dealing with mental health issues, a cause close to her heart. Referencing her Born This Way Foundation, established in 2012 to support youth facing mental health and wellness challenges, she emphasized the importance of creating a “braver and kinder world.” Reflecting on the resilience demonstrated over the past two years, Lady Gaga declared that the world is already exhibiting bravery.
