The singer of “Fantasy” expressed her desire for her children, Monroe and Moroccan, to witness the dedication she puts into her work, hoping they would adopt a strong work ethic and understand that success is earned through effort. In an interview with E! News, Mariah Carey emphasized the importance of these lessons, citing her own upbringing without such privileges. She stated:
“I think it’s important that they learn these lessons because I grew up without that privilege and they need to understand that it is so important to try your hardest and do your best.”
With pride, Carey added, “It’s one of my greatest honors to watch them shine.”
While instilling humility in her children, Carey also revealed in a W Magazine interview that she indulges them during Christmas, a luxury she didn’t experience in her own childhood. Reflecting on her transformative journey, she shared:
“When you grow up with a messed-up life and then you’re able to have this transformation where you can make your life what you want it to be? That is joy for me. That’s why I want my kids to have everything they can have. I want them to be able to understand that they can be anything they want to be.”
Although still young and uncertain about their future aspirations, the twins exhibit singing talents that suggest they may follow in their mother’s footsteps. Monroe showcased her impressive vocals in a duet with Carey during the “Merry Christmas to All” concert in Toronto in December 2022, singing “Away in a Manger.” Carey expressed her gratitude on Instagram:
“Thank you so much to alllll the Canadian fans and lambs that came out to celebrate with me at my show last night!!!! Merry Christmas to All!! ❤️🎄🎄🕊❤”
