In December 2019, Kate Swenson wrote a blog to talk about these difficulties, in addition, she shared the story of a colleague who was extremely proud that her son was making fun of an autistic colleague.

As Swenson tells it, the story is too shocking to be believed, but it illustrates the levels of stupidity that haunt humanity. In an informal meeting with female colleagues, all of whom are mothers, the discussion turned to raising children.

The clueless woman in question felt it would be nice to talk about her son’s imitation skills, which include mocking a boy who is in the spectrum that this woman’s narrative is built on; She even mentioned that her son knows how to clap enthusiastically, which is often found in the most severe levels of ASD, Swenson wrote in her community blog on Today Parenting Team.

The rest of the women were understandably shocked by this revelation as the ignorant mother was already so proud of this bullying. She clearly didn’t know that Swenson’s son, Cooper, had autism spectrum disorder. She is a published author who maintains a Facebook page to promote awareness and advocacy for parents of children who are also on the spectrum.

Swenson was in complete disbelief as the other mothers shot and stared at the heartless mother, she continued on her Today Parenting Team blog.

If it is a meeting between fathers, it is possible that a physical altercation will occur, but some women approach these things with grace and without saying a word.

To make matters worse, this creepy mom showed her co-workers how her son had mastered imitation hand clapping. She finally got a clue, apologized, and left the meeting just when Swenson was ready to say something.
