During her first pregnancy, Katey Taylor welcomed a sizable baby, setting certain expectations for her second delivery. However, the outcome of her second childbirth surprised both her and those present. While her initial son weighed over 9 pounds, her second baby, Leo Everett Taylor, arrived at a remarkable 13.2 pounds.
Leo made his entrance into the world at Williamson Medical Center in Franklin on June 28, 2023, sporting a head full of hair. The hospital marked the occasion a few days later, sharing the news on Facebook along with a photo captured by Kristie Lloyd.
“Coming in with a bang at 13.2 pounds, this firecracker is helping us celebrate 4th of July in our nursery! 🎆🎇” they joyfully announced.
Adding to the astonishment, Leo arrived a week earlier than expected. In an interview with WSMV 4 Nashville, Katey shared her adjustment to the situation, saying, “I’m getting used to it, but it’s definitely hard cos he wants to be held all the time, so working on those muscles right now.”
Managing Leo’s voracious appetite posed a challenge for the new mom. She explained, “He does eat around the clock. It’s kind of hard to keep up for sure.”
Katey opted for a planned cesarean section, and Leo was so substantial that he couldn’t fit into newborn clothes. To address this, her mother-in-law had to bring larger clothes from home, and Leo left the hospital clad in garments designed for 3- to 6-month-old babies. Fortunately, Leo’s sugar levels were normal at birth.
While Leo is undeniably a large baby, he doesn’t claim the title of the world’s biggest. That record belongs to Anna Bates’ baby boy, born in 1879, who weighed an astounding 22 pounds
