Nick Miner, an 18-year-old high school senior and quarterback at East River High School, tragically lost his life while trying to help a stranded driver.
The principal of the high school, Becky Watson, expressed her sorrow in a statement, stating that the entire school community was mourning the loss of one of their own. She offered her sympathies to the family and friends of the deceased student.
Reports indicate that Miner stopped his truck to assist a driver in need, but while he was doing so, the driver of a Honda Insight failed to notice Miner’s truck and collided with it.
Miner was thrown out of his vehicle and died instantly. The driver of the Honda is currently facing charges as the investigation into the accident continues.
Miner was attempting to help two women who were stranded on the roadside when the accident happened. They were also involved in the collision but fortunately only sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Miner’s teammates, friends, and family members are grieving the loss of a young man known for his leadership qualities and willingness to help others. Cole Strawder, a teammate of Miner’s, described him as the leader of the team’s brotherhood.

The aftermath of the accident has left Miner’s family and friends in shock and mourning. His father, Derek, described the scene of the accident and his son’s final moments. The community of East River High School has expressed their sadness and support for Miner’s family and friends. The school has made grief counselors available for students and staff members who need help coping with the loss.
