New Jersey Transportation Officer Sean Pfeiffer takes it upon himself to help Lopez after the homeless man explains his situation to him. The officer called twenty different phone numbers in the Bradley Beach area. Finally, as fate would have it, Pfeiffer ended up leaving a voicemail on Lopez’s daughter’s answering machine.

When the girl returned at Pfeiffer’s call, she arranged for her sister’s reunion with their father. The meeting brought tears to everyone’s eyes in the room for him.

Not only did Lopez see his daughters for the first time in 24 years, he also met his grandchildren for the first time.

He later said, “I think I’m in heaven.” “I got my best girl back [yet].”

Lopez’s daughters are now caring for him themselves so they can find him a permanent home nearby. The officers also placed him in a mental health program so he could get the help he needed.
