Learning the choreography was a challenge for Shant, considering his lack of dance experience. He and the dance teacher decided to stage the proposal during a school varsity basketball game, specifically at halftime.

To ensure his girlfriend’s attendance, Shant devised a plan, informing her and his unsuspecting family about a work-related award presentation during the game. “I made up a fake story to get Lina and my parents, and brother (all of whom did not know what was about to happen) and told them all that I was going to be presented an award for my work accomplishments,” he shared.

On January 27, 2017, Shant successfully proposed to Lina, carefully arranging cameras from various angles to capture the performance and Lina’s reaction. As halftime began, basketball players exited the court, making way for the dancers. Approximately a minute and a half into the routine, Shant joined in.

When Lina spotted Shant entering the court, her jaws dropped. Someone escorted her to a vantage point for a full view of Shant’s impressive dance showcase, prompting her to jump for joy. About three minutes into the performance, Shant knelt down, retrieved the ring from his pocket, and, with the help of students, unfurled a massive banner reading, ‘Lina Will You Marry Me?’

Unsurprisingly, Lina said yes, responding with an incredibly joyful reaction to Shant’s unforgettable proposal
