A customer who witnessed how the crew of the Arby treated Mr Doug wrote a Facebook post that caught the attention of Fox10.

After Fox10 published the story about Mr. Doug, the office of Arby Corporation decided to give Mr. Doug Arby freedom for life. The veteran warrior joked that he didn’t know how much life he had left, but he was very grateful for the gesture.

Many retired veterans live on a stable income. The National Veterans Affairs Foundation reports that 1.5 million veterans live in poverty in the United States. These brave souls risked their lives for the freedoms that Americans enjoy every day. They deserve better.

Last year, a veterans organization called Run for the Wall honored Chandler Arby employees for the way they treat Mr. Doug. Run for the Wall hosts an annual California motorcycle ride to the Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington, DC. The non-profit organization works to raise awareness of wartime responsibility.
