Parenting is one of the most amazing experiences ever, but it can easily be called the most frustrating too!
Every new day brings a new challenge in the life of parents. Accidents and mistakes will occur from time to time, some are more difficult to forget than others.
Grandmother Teresa Gall knows that best because she accidentally locked her 17-month-old grandson Liam in a car … during the height of summer.
At that time, Missouri Western safeties Jack Long and Shane Simpson just finished up football practice, they decided then to make their way home together. As they were leaving campus, they spotted Teresa beating on a parked car with a hammer.
At first, the two young men thought the grandmother had probably just locked herself out, but her strange behavior made them rethink about it since she could just call a locksmith to solve it. The confused students felt that something so wrong is happening with overly exuberant granny, so they decided to go over and see what she was really up to.
Jack and Shane approached the distressed old lady and noticed tears running down her cheeks. At that moment, they realized that she was in a very serious situation and she needs urgent help. That’s when Teresa, while still desperately clinging onto the hammer, shouted seven words that forced them to act.
“There’s a baby locked in the car!” she screamed.
The two young men took a look inside the car window to believe it. Indeed, they found 17-month-year-old Liam stuck inside the hot car! As it was summer, the temperature outside was above 35 degrees celcius – enough to make it dangerous to be trapped inside a stationery car if there aren’t any windows open. Liam was already in a life-risking situation as he was vomiting and losing slowly his consciousness. Shane and Jack acted without hesitation.
