Upon Officer Kondak’s tragic demise in December 2014, the community was left in shock and horror. The news of his shooting reverberated through the town, but while the incident faded from headlines, it lingered in the hearts of his family and former colleagues.

In 2016, as Officer Kondak’s daughter, Aleena, prepared for her prom, the absence of her father weighed heavily on her. Growing up, she had always envisioned him witnessing this milestone. The prospect of her dad not being there to capture precious moments and ensure her safe return left her feeling melancholic on a night of significance for many teenagers.

In a touching twist, Officer Kondak’s old colleagues, the local police officers, recognized the importance of this moment for Aleena and sought to create a memorable prom surprise, as reported by FOX 13. Teresa, Aleena’s mother, understanding her daughter’s sadness, devised a secret plan to infuse the evening with special meaning.

As Aleena disembarked from the bus for prom, she was astonished to find a line of officers from the Tarpon Springs Police Department, her father’s former comrades, waiting to surprise her. The overwhelming support for both her and her father’s service brought tears to her eyes.

Though Officer Kondak couldn’t be there in person, his spirit infused the moment as Aleena shared a special photo with her late father’s cherished colleagues
