Turkey may be the main star, but Thanksgiving wouldn’t be the same without its extravagant sides. From mashed potatoes to green bean dishes, each of these dishes serves its own purpose on the Thanksgiving table.

But is there one aspect we’ve included every year for generations that’s taking up space? Well, according to a new poll, this is it – it’s canned cranberry sauce.

An Instacart poll showed that nearly half of Americans (46%!) think canned cranberry sauce is “disgusting.” What’s interesting, however, is that while many find the downside unsatisfying, about half of American households will settle for the canned version rather than making it from scratch.

The survey also revealed other interesting preferences, as well as holiday-related trends. We might associate Thanksgiving with turkey, but about 42% of millennials who’ve welcomed the holidays so far are skipping turkey for another protein. Failing to replace them? Instacart sales show pork was the second most purchased protein in the days leading up to the holidays.

But what about the pie? Unsurprisingly, 94% of Americans will have pie on the table as the grand finale to their meal. Pumpkin pie tops the list as the most eaten pie on Thanksgiving, served by 31% of households. Close behind were apple pie and pecan pie, both limited to 18%.
