Cam Schlittler didn’t need strikes to make his point—three words were enough for his 13th punchout of the night.
The new Yankees playoff hero fired back at gambling influencer and Boston superfan Lucy Burdge, who confidently predicted “Sox in 3” before Thursday night’s decisive wild-card game.
“Not this year,” Schlittler replied on X after dominating the Red Sox with eight shutout innings in a 4-0 Yankees victory, sending New York to the ALDS against the Blue Jays.
Following the win, Schlittler joined the team’s boozy clubhouse celebration at Yankee Stadium.
“Drinking dat dirty water,” the Massachusetts native tweeted shortly after midnight.
The 24-year-old, who regularly topped 100 mph on the mound Thursday, has been a standout since his call-up in early July.
Schlittler saved his best for the postseason—and for his hometown rivals—striking out 12 overmatched Red Sox before leaving the mound to a standing ovation at Yankee Stadium.
“I had an opportunity to pitch to a good lineup, end their season, and claim some bragging rights over everyone I know back home,” Schlittler said.
Lucy Burdge, a popular gambling influencer and Red Sox fan, has a large following online.
Burdge, who previously worked with WEEI, now partners with DraftKings.
She rode an emotional rollercoaster on social media as the feel-good Red Sox season came to a painful end.

“It’s designed to break your heart,” Burdge wrote shortly after the Yankees scored all four of their runs in the fourth inning.
As the Red Sox ran out of outs, she added, “I wish this was a best-of-seven series. I’m going to miss this.”

Burdge added postgame on social media: “If you’re also crashing out, reply ‘I love you.’”
The Yankees will open the ALDS on Saturday in Toronto at 4:08 p.m. ET.
