Week after week, Leatherwood impressed the judges with his vocal prowess and on-stage charisma, solidifying his status as a potential country music superstar. Hailing from Atlanta, Georgia, Leatherwood practically clinched the title of “The Voice” Champion with his heartfelt rendition of Keith Whitley’s “Don’t Close Your Eyes” during the Live Finale.

His performance garnered support from Keith Whitley’s widow, Lorrie Morgan, who expressed her admiration for Leatherwood in a Facebook post, stating, “Bryce did such a great job, and I think he deserves to win for this performance alone! I’ll bet Keith is smiling down! Brought tears to my eyes!”

Despite facing tough competition from other talented contestants, including Bodie and Brayden Lape from Team Blake, Morgan Myles from Team Camilla, and Omar Jose Cardona from Team Legend, Leatherwood’s fate hinged on his final song. The 22-year-old singer delivered a show-stopping performance in the finale, choosing Tritt’s “T-R-O-U-B-L-E” as his last song.

Leatherwood’s rendition of the boogie-woogie anthem was nothing short of spectacular, earning him praise for capturing the essence of Tritt’s vocals and commanding the stage with an energy reminiscent of the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley, who originally performed the song in 1975.

In the end, Leatherwood emerged as the undisputed Champion of “The Voice” Season 22, securing Team Blake its ninth championship title
