As with many blind people, Jane’s duties allowed the routine he created to shift. Over the years, he memorized bus routes and timetables, which improved his ability to navigate independently.
Unfortunately, bus routes and timetables change from time to time. When this happened to Jane’s usual bus route recently, he felt completely lost and alone. In fact, in an interview with FOX6, Jen said he felt like he got lost in the middle of the ocean.
The young bus driver, Thaddeus Turner, noticed that Jane was confused and clearly distressed. Instead of letting Jane figure things out on her own, Thaddeus took action. Stop the bus and take the engine keys.
Then he led Jin to his usual path. Once Jane resumed a familiar route, he was able to return home safely and without further distress. Without Thaddeus’ help, Gene might have continued to falter without guidance.
