Recognizing the potential impact of TikTok, Jennifer sought the platform’s support for her parents’ Vietnamese restaurant, which had been struggling with a lack of customers and financial stress.
In her video caption, Jennifer appealed to TikTok users, saying, “TikTok, do your thing & help support my parents’ Vietnamese restaurant. My parents haven’t been having that many customers & been feeling stressed dealing with financial issues. If you want to check it out, they make delicious Vietnamese food.”
Although they anticipated some response, the overwhelming outcome was beyond expectations. Three weeks later, the restaurant was packed with customers.
“I just didn’t expect it to blow up. I just thought, oh a couple people will see it,” Jennifer shared in an interview with ABC 7.
Kelly Smith, a customer who dined at the restaurant, mentioned, “His daughter was on TikTok pleading to the public to help her dad because he was running out of business because of the Covid thing. I saw it and it broke my heart.”
A family friend acknowledged Jennifer’s parents as hardworking and family-oriented individuals deserving the best. Touched by the sentiment, Jennifer responded with gratitude, saying, “This made me tear up. Thank you so so much.”
Vuong, Jennifer’s father, expressed immense gratitude for the love and support their business received after the TikTok video went viral. “Big difference. A lot of people from the community come out and support us, and I’m really thankful,” Vuong shared with ABC 7
