Jennifer Lopez didn’t hold back when “Today” host Craig Melvin asked about her divorce from Ben Affleck during a live interview on Monday, Oct. 6.
“In the middle of filming this elaborate, beautiful musical, your divorce was also finalized with Ben,” Melvin, 46, remarked while discussing Lopez’s latest film, Kiss of the Spider Woman.

“There you go!” Lopez, 56, fired back. “Look at this guy!”
Craig Melvin, however, clarified that he brought up the topic only because Affleck, 53, served as a producer on the Bill Condon-directed musical drama.
“But then I read that your ex is an executive producer on the film,” he said.
Lopez laughed at the situation before acknowledging her ex-husband’s role in producing Kiss of the Spider Woman.

“If it wasn’t for Ben, the movie wouldn’t have gotten made,” the singer shared. “And I will always give him that credit.”
“And yeah, things happen, you have to keep going,” she added, reflecting on their split.
Although Lopez didn’t go into detail about her divorce from the Good Will Hunting star, she acknowledged that working on the film helped her navigate a challenging period in her life.

“It’s funny, the movie is about escapism. It’s about how movies and art save us in the hardest times of our lives,” she explained. “Doing this project was such a dream come true for me that it really got me through a difficult moment in my personal life as well.”
As for what’s next, Lopez said she “took some time off” after filming Kiss of the Spider Woman and “now we’re back.”
“I’m really excited for everybody to see this film,” she shared. “It’s a beautiful film about love.”

“And it sounds like it might have helped save you,” Melvin added, to which Lopez replied, “It did, it did!”
Lopez and Ben Affleck rekindled their romance in the spring of 2021, years after calling off their first engagement in 2004. The couple later married in 2022, but their union ultimately didn’t last.

The Selena star ended their marriage in August 2024, following a quiet separation earlier that year. Lopez and the Justice League actor settled their divorce in January 2025, with it being finalized a month later.
J.Lo previously spoke about filming Kiss of the Spider Woman during her split from Affleck in an interview with CBS News Sunday Morning last month.

“It was a really tough time,” Lopez told host Lee Cowan. “Every moment on set, every moment I was doing this role, I was so happy, and then back home, it was not great.”
“And it was just like, oh, you know, ‘How do I reconcile this?’” she added.
Affleck, meanwhile, praised his ex following their split.

“For the record, Jennifer Lopez is spectacular, great to my kids, great ongoing relationship with them,” Affleck said in April. “I love her kids. They’re wonderful.”
“She’s an enormously important, tremendous person of a lot of integrity who I adore and am grateful to,” he added.
Affleck shares three children—Samuel, 13, Seraphina, 16, and Violet, 19—with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner, while Lopez shares 17-year-old twins Emme and Max with her ex-husband Marc Anthony.
