Cissy Cartwright has been delivering mail to Hope Hull for over 20 years. I went to see Tommy Hope, 66, whose house is set back from the road in remote countryside. As soon as I got to his front door, I noticed the front door was unlocked and his truck was in the front yard with the hood up.
She went to the door and asked for Hope and he yelled at her for help. I found him lying on the ground, dehydrated and I knew he had been there for 10 days! I called 911 and waited with him until an ambulance arrived.
“I was in shock but so relieved when I screamed for him, he shouted back to me. Glad I found him when I did,” Cartwright told WCN.
Hope was unable to get help after the terrible fall. He found different ways to survive until Cartwright found him. Hope says Cartwright saved her life
“He calls me his hero,” she says, “and if that’s what he means, I agree with him.” “But I don’t feel like a hero. I was in the right place at the right time.”
