Reynolds’ son was in the hospital with sepsis, a blood infection. He was placed on life support due to the severity of his illness.

According to WXYZ, she wrote a note to her manager saying she couldn’t attend.

She wrote: “I’m just telling you my son is still on life support. So until he’s in bad shape I can’t come to work. I can tell you when he starts to get better so I can return to work without any problem.”

However, her manager didn’t seem happy with the text she received and responded with something that would send shockwaves across the country.

“It’s not our way of doing things, so I’ll accept your resignation.” His manager wrote again.

The manager’s response sparked a back-and-forth between the two, which Reynolds later posted on social media, and the post has since gone viral.

His boss at PS Foodmart also saw this message and immediately reacted by firing the manager in question and allowing Reynold’s to keep his job.
