“The individuals who extended their help are truly amazing. Thank you for renewing my faith in humanity,” expressed one user.
“You encounter such compassionate people rarely. Bless that family for assisting her, and shame on her landlord; that is simply unacceptable,” remarked another commenter.
“It’s an incredible story of a community rallying together. What a heartwarming outcome for this woman. She is fortunate to have such kind, compassionate, and generous neighbors,” added a third user.
Many also criticized the ease with which an elderly woman could be evicted and the harsh manner in which her situation was handled.
“We need new laws to protect the elderly. Evicting them should require a trial, where a judge determines how long the individual has lived there. If it’s been over 20 years, they should be able to freeze any sale of the home, and the new homeowner shouldn’t be able to evict the elderly person or increase the rent,” read one comment.
Expressing sympathy, another viewer stated, “Why are you doing this to old people? Shame on you.”
