Delilah, 14-month-old girl was admitted to Wolfson Children’s Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida. After checking the little girl, the doctors immediately realized the heart-wrenching truth, Delilah had been neglected and abused. In addition to her weak body that was obviously malnourished, the poor infant also suffered from broken bones and a fracture to her skull. Her injuries were the result of “non-accidental trauma.” It takes a special type of monster to do this to a child.
Jess Hamm, is a nurse in the pediatric intensive care unit, she was doing her shift that day when she saw Delilah, weak and skinny – The doctors were glad that the little girl didn’t give up yet and fought for her life. Jess walked towards Delilah, she was heartbroken to see the little angle in this horrible state. When Delilah looked into her eyes, the 30-year-old nurse didn’t hesitate and grabbed Delilah’s finger. It was at that moment that Jess realized what she has to do: Delilah deserves a better home and a better life and that’s what she will give her, she will adopt her. She knew deep in her heart that she’s ready to provide this baby all the love and care she deserved but never got it.
Adopting a kid isn’t an easy process to do, but Jess is willing to do everything she can to take Delilah home. So Jess set up a meeting with the careworkers at the Florida Department of Children and Families. However, as she’s sitting down with the staff and filling out the adoption paperwork, Jess finds out some new information about Delilah that surprised her to the core and changed everything. As it turned out, Delilah had a twin sister – and that twin sister was just like Delilah, in desperate need of saving. This story happened about two years ago, and quite a lot has taken place in Jess’ home ever since. This woman deserves all the recognition she is getting online and throughout her community.
