Most folks are aware of the well-known Christmas custom of filling shoe boxes with dolls, deodorants and school provisions to contribute to Operation Christmas Child. About Thanksgiving time organizations and churches gather helpers to collect boxes, getting them prepared to mail across the globe to kids deemed in need.
Samaritans Purse partners with these organizations and churches to extend some happiness and liveliness in this Christmas occasion. As said by Samaritan’s Purse, 135 million children in 150 countries have received a contribution-filled box ever since the program started in 1993.
Tyrel Wolfe, seven years, took part in a mission that would everlastingly transform their lives. The little boy and his family, through their church, got involved with Operation Christmas Child and Samaritan’s Purse.
Tyrel was thrilled to pack the box, but then stopped thinking about it immediately his family sent it to their church where it was sent to the Philippines.
Ten years later, Tyrel got a Facebook friend request from a lady called Joana Marchan. They then began messaging on Facebook. Joan was eager to meet the person who sent the box so she could appreciate.
But Tyrel was warned to be careful since the lady had the same name as the girl they sent the box a decade ago. The same little girl they had sent the box, was the same messaging Tyrel.
