Courtney Hadwin is a name that will be remembered for a long time. The 13-year-old’s recent audition drove the audience, jury of America’s Got Talent and the whole internet crazy, with with the clip having already been watched 6 million times on YouTube alone.
You’ve got to watch to see the teen’s insane singing skills, everyone including cold Simon Cowel was baffled!
When Courtney stepped on the big stage for the competition, she was apparently so nervous. After all, she has only a minute and half in front of a huge audience and a tough jury to prove her talent and qualify for the next stage for the competition.
One of the judges comforted her with encouragement words to make her feel comfortable and to put her in a place where she was ready to deliver her best performance.
“It’s okay to be nervous. It’s totally understandable,” said judge Mel B. She then continued: “Listen, don’t be nervous. I know this is a big stage, and there’s lots of people here, but you’re here for a reason, so go for it and good luck.”
And that’s what Courtney did, she went for it very wildly! It was like she only needed these few words. Moments later, she was giving an insane performance of “Hard to Handle” by the Black Crowes, and to say the judges and audience were left stunned is a relative understatement. The charisma, the talent, the confidence… the VOICE!
When the audition ended all four judges were on their feet giving the British girl a standing ovation. The audience were elated and whooped and hollered on their feet for several minutes before the judges were allowed to speak.
“You’re like a lion,” Simon Cowell told the girl, while Howie Mandel explained: “You are not from this era, you’re from a whole different era.”
In fact, Mandel was so impressed that he even drew comparisons between Courtney and Janis Joplin, one of the 1960’s biggest stars then he leant over and slammed down the golden buzzer.
Courtney covered her eyes in disbelief as the golden confetti floated down from the ceiling.
As for the performance itself, I won’t say too much. Fasten your seatbelt and prepare for the show… this is something you’ve never seen before!
