Mr. Scot Pankey,
, noticed that his students were spending a lot of time watching YouTube videos, so he decided to make the coolest video ever.. He asked all students of the school to participate in a choreographed dance to the tune of Mark Ronson’s “Uptown Funk,” which features Bruno Mars on vocals. For this video, Mr. Pankey chose the well-known trope of a teacher who is bored out of his mind in the classroom, and he decided to play the leading role. The short clip starts off with him sitting at his desk and looking like he would rather like to be somewhere else; suddenly, music starts playing and he becomes animated enough to start dancing.
He clearly needs more room to get down, so he goes outside where he is accompanied by a couple of students before the entire class joins in. Mr. Pankey clearly has some moves, and it is obvious that everyone involved was active and paying attention during rehearsals. The smartphone cinematography is also pretty good.
It only took a few weeks for this video to reach more than 10 million views on YouTube. The following year, Mr. Pankey and his class produced an even slicker video, one that featured what appears to be an uninterrupted tracking shot, with the song “Good Day to be Alive” by Andy Grammer.
After watching this video, can you think of other teachers whose neat ideas and overall coolness made you pay more attention in school? Pass this video around so that your friends and family can be reminded of teachers who made going to school a fun and uplifting experience.
