Upon leaving Walmart with his dog food, Borba’s attention was grabbed by a distressed woman’s piercing cry, “Stop him! Stop him! He stole my bike!” Suddenly, Victorino Arrellano-Sanchez whizzed past him on her bicycle.
In that moment, Borba’s cowboy instincts kicked in, propelling him onto his trusty horse as he pursued the bewildered culprit, swiftly lassoing him as he had done countless times with unruly steers.
With the bike thief secured, the heroic cowboy dialed 911, leading to a rather amusing conversation. “911. What’s the location of the emergency?” “We have a guy who just stole a bike here at Walmart. I have him roped and tied to a tree.” After a brief pause, the incredulous 911 operator exclaimed, “What?” as reported by CBS.
A short while later, the police, equally astonished by the spectacle, arrived on the scene and took charge of the situation. Once everything was resolved, they returned Borba’s rope to him, and he continued his journey to the ranch where he worked, carrying his dog food and now celebrated as a national hero. In a later event in 2016, Borba even made a televised appearance on Steve Harvey’s show.
