Klein brought attention to the great-grandmother’s situation by sharing a video of her fall on TikTok, aiming to inform the public about the fundraiser. In just three days, the video garnered over 16.1 million views, with more than 16,000 people worldwide contributing to the GoFundMe page.
Although Gillespie was more concerned about the dropped food than her injuries, Klein and Keighron, both working in the medical field, swiftly assisted her in regaining balance after the fall. Recognizing the need for additional support, Klein initiated the fundraiser, expressing a desire to provide a substantial tip to ease any burdens Gillespie might face.
“Let’s show her some kindness and take off some of this burden that our economy is causing the older generations especially,” Klein wrote on GoFundMe.
During an interview with “Good Morning America,” Klein and Keighron expressed their hope that Gillespie could retire, spend time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, enjoy a cruise vacation, and pursue non-physically demanding activities. Drawing from personal experiences of fathers who worked tirelessly until their passing, the couple wished for a different outcome for Gillespie.
