Do you remember the popular show game Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?  The game ran for over ten years, and we stopped everything to watch it.

One of the most memorable episodes from the show was one with John Carpenter. John appeared on the show in November 1999. The IRS agent was not interested in the game. After watching the game at a friend’s house, he became interested and realized the questions were not very difficult.

Carpenter answered all the questions correctly, and that earned him a slot on the show two days later.  On the show, he was calm, and he answered all the questions correctly. He did not use any of his lifelines.

When Carpenter got that final question that would make him a millionaire, he decided to use his lifeline. The audience thought he wanted to get assistance with the answer, but they were wrong.

He was asked which U.S president featured in the laugh-in television series. Carpenter knew the answer but still called his dad and told him that he would be a millionaire. He answered the question correctly and became the millionaire of the day.
