No one wants to be pulled over by a cop.
It doesn’t matter if you’ve committed a violation or if you believe yourself to be completely innocent: you can’t help but feeling panicked.
This is exactly what happened when Austin Urhan and his girlfriend Samantha Watson were pulled over while they were on the way to visit Samantha’s grandparents. The couple had been in a relationship for seven years.
Urhan’s driving record isn’t exactly spotless: he received over over 20 speeding tickets in his life, so he is aware of the protocol and what to do in such situation. However, Samantha had no idea that this particular stop would change her life forever..
Samantha was confused when the cop asked them to pull over. The cop then said that he had complaints that someone was speeding. He then pulled Austin out of the car and began to search him.
“Sir, I got a call that there was a black Corvette on the interstate driving recklessly. Is that you?” the officer asked.
“Well, I … ugh, I might of hit 80 on the highway,” Austin replied.
“That’s just what I thought,” said the officer who seemed to find something illegal on Austin “You’re gonna do LIFE for this. Get on your knees and hands behind your back. I need to go get my camera for evidence.”
Samantha was left shocked and confused. She couldn’t stop thinking what her boyfriend could have possibly kept hidden for her all that time.
She wrote on her Facebook page, after the event: “I’m dying inside thinking he’s secretly hiding that he’s a drug lord for the past 7 years.”
Then the officer asked Samantha to step alongside Austin.
“Ma’am, I need you to come over here,” he said. “Right in front of him.”
That’s when Austin got down on one knee and showed the “evidence”. It turns out, he wasn’t handcuffed at all – he was holding a ring for Samantha, one that indicated he wanted his “life sentence” to be with her.
“I was very impressed with him that he went through all this. It’s something I can’t describe. It’s so many emotions in one,” Samantha said.
Fortunately, the officer’s dash cam captured the whole scene on video, and the footage was later posted by the police department to Facebook. The titled “Cop ‘Engaged’ In Traffic Stop Leads To Life Sentence,” has been viewed more than 2 million times on YouTube. You can watch it below.
