I’ve always had the deepest respect for people who take care of the elderly. Day in and day out, they work hard to care for our mothers and fathers, grandmothers and grandfathers, and for that they deserve a round of applause!

But I also get extremely pissed off by people who give the profession a bad name. These people don’t live up to their mission — and instead take advantage of those who are weak and ill, believing they can just treat others however they want.

Now another disturbing case of elder abuse has been revealed — and it’s angering the whole world.

Salim Youne’s 89-year-old father had a stroke, was paralyzed on one side of his body, and had to use a wheelchair. He required daily care — and was moved into a retirement home in Livonia, Michigan.

But it didn’t take long before Salim and his siblings suspected that something wasn’t right.

Their father started complaining that the staff was treating him badly. But when Salim and his family asked the staff at Autumnwood of Livonia, the facility where their father lives, the retirement home denied any wrongdoing.

Eventually, Salim noticed bruises and sores on his dad’s head and was convinced. He and his siblings decided to take the matter in their own hands — and set up a hidden camera in the retirement home.

“We agreed on putting a hidden camera in an alarm clock next to his bed. After a couple of days… I discovered unspeakable horrors,” Salim Youne told Michigan Live.salim younes, autumnwood center, vårdare, misskötselImage Source: YouTube

The family couldn’t believe how bad it was. Not only did the nurses scream at their elderly father, they also hit him.

According to the family, their father was also denied water and had his call button taken away. The nurses shook him violently by the head and ran his legs into the wall while he was in his wheelchair.

In total, the family gathered a total of 119 clips of unacceptable behavior — within just two days. But when they confronted the retirement home with the evidence, they were met with resistance.

“They don’t want people to know. They went in court and argued this should be kept secret,” the family’s lawyer, Jonathan Marko, told Michigan Live.

The family decided to come forward with the shocking footage to warn others and raise awareness about what the retirement home did to their father.
