Sometimes, a person comes across our path and don’t understand how much they mean to us until much later.
For Lee Haase, Angela Nguyen was this one person.
Angela is a delivery worker at Domino’s pizza, she have done this job for many years, so she has a lot of regular customers and one of these customers is Lee.
As usual, Lee ordered pizza every Saturday, and Angela always delivered it.
However, starting one Saturday, Lee stopped ordering for his pizza. Angela was concerned about her regular customer so she decided to stop by his house and check Lee out.
When Angela got there, she immediately realized what was going on. A strong storm had ripped off most of the roof from Lee’s house.
Lee doesn’t have money to fix his house’s roof. Worse than this, Lee got the bad news of his son’s death in a snowmobile accident around that time.. That’s so sad!
Devastated and broke, Lee moved into a small trailer.
Angela’s daughter Sarah, who works also as a pizza delivery person, found out where Lee was living. She explained Lee’s situation to her mother and decided to step in and do something about it.
Lee’s trailer didn’t have heat, water, a sewage toilet or electricity.
“I thought we gotta do something. We can’t let a human being live like this,” Angela explains.
With a small gesture, everything started to change. Angela bought a heater for Lee’s trailer. It was the beginning to a new life for Lee.
Then, Angela launched a crowdfunding campaign. The donations came in more and more as Lee’s heartbreaking story continued to spread among many people.
Thanks to Angela, $32,360 was collected in only two months. It was enough to buy Lee a new mobile home!
Angela says it couldn’t be possible to make it without help and support from the local community and a lot of generous strangers.
“Every single one of us enjoyed doing this. This ain’t all for Lee. We all benefited,” Angela says.
At first, Angela walked into Lee’s life at the right time and her good heart was just what he needed.
She helped Lee to get his life back, something he’ll be always grateful for.
Every day, we hear news of wars, crimes, natural disasters, and it feels good to hear about this kind of stories. It proves that there’s still good in us, we just have to realize that and use our resources to help others in need.
