Rather than simply expressing gratitude to the children for their actions, Clausen opted to put her thoughts into writing and send a letter home. In the letter, she expressed,
“I am compelled to write to tell you how beautiful your children are, inside and out! This can only come from the home, your patience and guidance, the examples that you set and teach…”
Clausen went on to highlight, “I have a child on my bus named Jackson. Both of your children have shown him much compassion and support.” She mentioned that Annaliese and Jorge consistently ask if they can sit next to Jackson, bringing him happiness on a daily basis.
Describing Jackson’s occasional sadness, Clausen narrated how Annaliese encouraged him, saying, “Come on Jackson, you can do it!” She shared an instance where Jorge assisted Jackson in carrying his backpack into school.
Closing the heartfelt note, Clausen reassured the children’s mother, “I know how wonderful your children are, but I wanted you to know that it shows.” The letter, shared on Facebook, has garnered over 3,000 shares and numerous comments. One user expressed, “Raise them right, and it will be worth all the effort… This touched my heart…”
Another commenter stated, “Wish there were more parents out there that would teach their children the same lessons.” With over 20 years of bus driving experience, Clausen’s letter serves as a testament to her genuine care for all her passengers, emphasizing the positive impact children can have in fostering generosity and kindness within our communities
