Joe Lodoha was on his way to a carpentry job in Wawatosa, Wisconsin when training from his old job came in handy. Joe a former emergency medical technician walked past a smoky house.
He stopped to see what was going on, and a neighbor said there was a dog inside and called 9-1-1. Help had not yet arrived, so he heroically took matters into his own hands.
With smoke rising from the back of the house, Joe smashed the window and second door in front and went inside to see the dog sleeping on the sofa. Grab her and get her to a safe place before he comes back to make sure there are no other animals or people inside. Shortly thereafter, firefighters arrived and put out the fire within 30 minutes.
Owner Patrick Otis will come to the house to find out more about the situation. He ran to his dog, Dharma, and reached out to embrace the alien who saved his life. The house was destroyed, but nothing irreplaceable was lost. The Wisconsin Red Cross will organize housing for Patrick and Dharma so they can get back on their feet again.
As for Joe Loduha, the glass got stuck in his leg after the door was broken, but other than that everything was fine. What a hero!
